AI tools for medicine, diagnostics and medical technology
Short answer
Certified medical AI from Europe: radiology and pathology software, screening support and platforms – features, pricing and privacy compared.
Medical AI is most convincing where large volumes of images meet a narrow time window: radiology, pathology and screening. The tools listed here analyse CT, MRI, mammography or tissue images and deliver measurable numbers instead of visual estimates.
The focus is deliberately on European vendors. Health data falls under Article 9 GDPR, and EU headquarters, processing in European data centres and a data processing agreement are not side issues here but the precondition for clinical use.
All entries address institutions, not private individuals: they do not replace physician assessment but support it – usually as CE-marked medical devices connected to PACS and the reporting workflow.

deepcMunich-based platform deepcOS: a vendor-neutral “operating system” for radiology AI that lets hospitals run dozens of certified algorithms from different vendors in one workflow.

Frequently asked questions
Does medical AI replace physician reporting?
No. Every system listed here is a support tool: it pre-sorts, measures and flags, but reporting and responsibility stay with the physician. That is also how the products are approved.
Which vendors come from German-speaking countries?
Aignostics, mediaire, deepc and Vara are based in Germany, contextflow in Austria. That makes contracting, privacy review and support considerably easier than with non-European vendors.
What does deploying such systems cost?
There are no list prices. Licensing works per site and exam volume, usually as an annual licence preceded by a trial installation. For academic research, model access is sometimes free.
How is privacy handled for imaging data?
DICOM files regularly carry names and birth dates in the metadata. Before any cloud transfer the sending workflow must pseudonymise – reputable vendors support this and offer on-premises operation as an alternative.
